美國證管會（SEC）4 月 6 日宣布，已允許基金公司 Teucrium 發行比特幣期貨 ETF 「Teucrium Bitcoin Futures Fund」，是第 4 檔在美國獲准上市的比特幣期貨 ETF。
有別於 ProShares、Valkyrie 和 VanEck，這三檔ETF 都是根據《投資公司法》註冊，而 Teucrium 的比特幣期貨 ETF 是根據《證券交易法》進行註冊。
比特幣現貨 ETF 有望放行？
彭博分析師 James Seyffart 今年稍早在 Twitter 上表示，若 Teucrium 的申請能在《證券交易法》下獲得批准，有可能會為比特幣現貨 ETF 的放行鋪路。
對此，數位資產管理業者 Grayscale 執行長 Michael Sonnenshein 就指出，明明都是根據《證券交易法》提出的申請，但 SEC 只允許 Teucrium 推出基於「比特幣期貨 ETF」，卻反對 Grayscale 將旗下比特幣信託基金 GBTC 轉型為「比特幣現貨 ETF」。

他續稱，SEC 在批准 Teucrium 的申請時，巧妙地將「市場」定義為芝商所（CME），並將「基礎資產」定義為 CME 比特幣期貨，但芝商所的比特幣期貨實際上是基於比特幣現貨市場，也依據比特幣現貨市場來進行定價。
Michael Sonnenshein 認為，SEC 此舉顯然有失公平，他說：「如果 SEC 對比特幣期貨 ETF 感到滿意，他們也應該要對現貨比特幣 ETF 感到滿意。」
由於擔憂比特幣價格極端波動、市場操縱等問題，SEC 迄今為止尚未批准任何一檔比特幣現貨 ETF。Michael Sonnenshein 不久前聲稱，若其比特幣 ETF 申請遭監管單位否決，該公司不排除採取法律途徑，考慮對 SEC 提起訴訟。
