防毒軟體之父 John McAfee 逝世至今已逾一年。Netflix 即將上映紀錄片《防毒軟體之父邁克菲：心魔、逃亡與瘋狂人生》，當中揭示了 John McAfee  的一生，更採訪到他的前女友，她仍然堅信 John McAfee 還活著並住在美國德州。

這部紀錄片《防毒軟體之父邁克菲：心魔、逃亡與瘋狂人生》將於 8 月 23 日上映，當中與 John McAfee 的訪談，分享了他在亡命天涯那幾年不為人知的經歷，收錄數百小時從未公開的資料畫面。

導演 Charlie Russell 接受《Esquire》採訪時表示，John McAfee 在 2020 年因涉嫌逃稅後展開逃亡，也就在那期間，他主動聯繫上 John McAfee，表明身份和意圖後，電影團隊這才被邀請進行跟拍。

在紀錄片當中，John McAfee 的前女友 Samantha Herrera 表示，在 John McAfee 離世後，她接到從德州打來的電話，開口就說：「是我，John。我付錢讓人安排我詐死，我還活著。」

涉嫌逃稅被逮捕

2020 年 John McAfee 在巴塞隆那埃爾普拉特機場因涉嫌逃稅被西班牙警方逮捕，隔年 6 月西班牙國家法院裁定將他引渡回美受審，面臨逃稅、蓄意不報稅等刑事指控，最高刑期可處 30 年。等待引渡回美被關押期間，在牢房內上吊自殺身亡。直到今年 6 月為止，John McAfee 的遺體仍被存放在西班牙的太平間，他的遺孀 Janice 為此發起請願，向西班牙政府施壓，要求歸還她丈夫的遺體，並堅稱 John McAfee 之死並非自殺。
