據香港電台新聞報導，劉應彬提到加密貨幣當前佔全球金融資產的 2 %，相關資產可以用於交易與支付，與主流金融系統緊密連結，因此不能低估其挑戰與風險。有需要的話要納入監管框架，並提出香港金管局打算以「相同風險、相同監管」方針，將既有對金融市場的監管擴大到加密貨幣的市場，也會參考其他地區的做法。

同時劉應彬也提到，中國內地的相關交易活動全面刑事化，劉應彬稱不同司法管轄區會因應市場環境與考量，採取不同作法，似乎暗示香港方面不會跟近中國內地的當前政策，但他也重申中國當前部分的做法是合理的。
證監會投資產品執行董事蔡鳳儀也在同一論壇活動場中附和，證監會自 2018 年開始就針對加密貨幣設定指引，保證投資者與反洗錢等相關事項，並強調當前只有少部分基金暴露在加密資產風險當中，未來將會對有關金融產品進行監管。
積金局（全名「強制性公積金計劃管理局」）也在同場表示，加密貨幣風險極高，不會認為強積金（強制性公積金）有足夠的風險準備能投資加密貨幣相關資產，當前未有與加密貨幣相關的計畫。
